How You Can Access Us
Access Pathways
Mental Health Care Plan - Face to Face
The common referral is a Mental Health Care Plan, which is completed by your GP. This referral allows you an initial 6 sessions with the Psychologist. You are then able to obtain 4 more with a further referral (called a review) from your GP, which entitles you to a total of 10 rebatable sessions under Medicare. Medicare does assist in accessing psychological assistance, though there can often be a gap fee payable.
TELEHEALTH - Phone /or Video
If you have a current Mental Health Care Plan, due to COVID-19, you may be able to access the Telehealth service. These are conducted via Phone or Video (Zoom/Skype). Now it’s even more imperative at this point in time, as it is important to self-isolate.
Private
You can access assistance from a Psychologist without the need for a referral from your GP or other medical professionals. Medicare is not able to provide a rebate for these sessions, though you may be able to claim via your private health fund if you have extras. There is no limit to these sessions as a private client. You are able to access these either by telephone or by video.
WorkCover
If you have experienced a workplace injury (either physical or emotional), you may need psychological support to assist you in your recovery. If you have lodged a WorkCover claim, they may refer you to a Psychologist to help you return to work. There is usually a time frame around the sessions and the number of sessions, which are determined by WorkCover once your claim has been approved. WorkCover will cover the cost of your sessions while your claim is still active.
Other
Referrals are also accepted from programs including NDIS (self-funded, plan-managed, or NDIS approved), Better Access, Employee Assistance Programs, and Insurance providers.
