Counselling Fees

At Restoring Balance we believe in providing an affordable service for clients with competitive fees. The current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended fee is $311.00 per session for individual counselling. 

Psychologists

• $260.00 for individual counselling (50-minute consult)

• $350.00 for couples counselling (60-minute consult)

Rebates

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you will be entitled to a Medicare rebate for your psychologist session. After the Medicare rebate, your out-of-pocket expense is approximately $163.35. We are also able to process this for you. It takes 1-2 days to be transferred to your nominated bank account.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is no Medicare rebate for Counsellors or Coaches.

For private health fund members, please check with your individual health fund regarding the level of coverage and rebate entitlements.

Please note that you are not able to claim both Medicare and Private Health rebates concurrently.

Cancellation Fee/No Show*

If you are unable to attend an appointment, it is essential that you contact us as soon as possible to advise you will not be attending. However, if your appointment is cancelled within less than 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or you do not attend, there is a late cancellation/no-show fee that is equivalent to 50% of the session cost. You will have to pay this fee directly; the charge cannot be passed on to Medicare or any other third party. Any fee’s not paid will be passed on to a debt-collecting agency.

As a courtesy, we send text reminders to you 2 days prior to your scheduled appointment. However, it is your responsibility for keeping track of appointments and for notifying us of a need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. As such, a cancellation fee will apply if we do not receive 24 hours’ notice, regardless of whether or not our text reminders are received.
